Psychological Assessments for Children, Adolescents, and Adults in Singapore
At GetPsyched, we see assessments as more than identifying a diagnosis.
Whether you are seeking an ADHD assessment, autism assessment or learning difficulties assessment for your child, or wondering about longstanding patterns in yourself as an adult, our assessments aim to provide a clearer and more meaningful understanding of how you function and what may help.
Assessments for Children and Adolescents
Understanding your child in context
Children's difficulties rarely exist in isolation. Assessments may be particularly helpful when a child is struggling at school or at home, even when it is not yet clear what is contributing to those difficulties. Our assessments therefore look beyond test scores and diagnostic criteria to understand your child's strengths, needs and individual profile.
We provide psychological assessments for concerns including:
-
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
-
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
-
Learning difficulties and specific learning difficulties
-
Cognitive and intellectual functioning
-
Attention and executive functioning
-
Social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
-
Developmental and school-related concerns
We consider information from different settings where appropriate, including developmental history, parent and teacher observations, clinical interviews and standardised assessment measures. This allows us to build a more complete picture of how your child functions in everyday life, rather than relying on a single test or score.
Upon completing assessments at GetPsyched, we provide a comprehensive report explaining the findings, their clinical meaning, and recommendations relevant to the individual's needs.
For children, recommendations may help parents and schools consider:
-
Educational accommodations and support
-
Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) or other learning support plans
-
Appropriate interventions and therapies
-
Strategies to support learning, attention and emotional wellbeing
-
Educational pathways and school placement
-
Further assessment or specialist support where appropriate
Assessments for Adults
Make sense of longstanding patterns
For some adults, difficulties with attention, organisation, learning, relationships, emotional regulation or everyday functioning may have been present for much of their lives without being fully understood or identified.
Perhaps you were described as distracted, anxious, overly sensitive or simply not reaching your potential. Perhaps you learned to work much harder than others to keep up, developed strategies to compensate, or found ways to manage difficulties that others could not see.
When difficulties are not recognised earlier, people may spend years trying to make sense of their experiences without a framework that quite fits. This can affect education, work, relationships, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.
Psychological assessment in adulthood can provide an opportunity to look at these experiences with fresh perspective. Depending on your concerns, this might include exploring areas such as ADHD, autism, learning difficulties, cognitive functioning, attention or executive functioning.
We consider your current experiences alongside your developmental history and the ways you have adapted over time. An assessment may provide an explanation for longstanding difficulties, clarify areas of strength and need, or help identify a different way of understanding your experiences.
Our aim is not simply to provide a label, but to help you develop a more nuanced understanding of how you function, what has shaped your experiences, and what may help going forward.
